India's GS Laxmi the First Women's Match Referee in the ICC Women's T-20 World Cup

India's GS Laxmi will be the match referee at the ICC Women's T-20 World Cup to be held in Australia from February. GS Lakshmi along with him will become the first woman to play the role of match referee in an ICC World Tournament. The International Cricket Association (ICC) has announced the match officials for the Women's T-20 World Cup. GS Lakshmi is the only woman among the three-match referees. The GS will be the official match referee in the opening match between former champions West Indies and Thailand on February 3 at Waka Stadium in Perth.

However, her father requested her to try out for the college's sports quota. She was able to secure admission to Jamshedpur Women's College who felt that she could be their frontline fast bowler. She moved to Hyderabad in 1989 after securing a job with South Central Railway and subsequently began playing for the South Central Railways cricket team.
