Europa League 2022: Arsenal, Manchester United Pick-Up Victories

On Thursday night, both English clubs rose above their respective opponents in the Europa League 2022.

In the Europa League last night, English clubs Manchester United and Arsenal won their respective group-stage matches. With the win, United secured its position in the round-of-16 stage and so did Arsenal. Against Omonia in the Group E match, a late goal by Scott Mc Tominay gave United a victory. On the other hand, in the Group A match, Bukayo Saka won the game for Arsenal.

On the day

Manchester United vs. Omonia Nicosia

Although United won the match, it was not a lucky night for the Red Devils because Nigeria’s international goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, saved several United strikes. At Old Tr afford, players such as Christian Rolando, Marcus Rash ford and others tried to hit the net, but a determined Uzoho did not concede a single goal till the end of the game.

In the 93rd minute, Mc Tominay received a well-positioned pass from substitute Jadon Sancho. The 25-year-old midfielder did not waste the golden opportunity and sealed the victory for United. With two group-stage games remaining, United is in the second position with nine points.

Arsenal vs. Bodø/Glimt

In Norway, Arsenal visited the stadium of Bodø/Glimt and won their third straight Europa League game. While Arsenal fired seven shots at the net of Bodø/Glint, the Norwegian opponent fired six shots at Arsenal.

However, only Saka’s strike went past the goalkeeper of Bodø/Glimt, which was enough to solidify Arsenal’s position in the round-of-16 stage. After three group games, Arsenal is at the top of the table with nine points, followed by PSV with seven points.

For the record, Arsenal this season has been on fire so far. Apart from maintaining an incredible run in the Europa League, the North London team is playing brilliantly in the Premier League with 24 points and is at the top of the table.
