Utility Desk: The central government has redesigned the ration card under the ‘Ek Desh Ek Ration Card’ scheme. The government has directed the state government to use this new design to create new ration cards. The government has launched a campaign to create a uniform ration card across the country from June 1 in 2020.

The central government has asked the state government to declare 10 digit ration number. It will have the first 2 digit state code, the second 2 digit current ration card number. In addition, Digit Ration will display the unique ID of each member of the cardholder’s family. According to Food Ministry data, there are 75 million beneficiaries of ration card in the country under NFSA (National Food Security Act).
